Andrew and I traveled to Long Island/Manhattan this past weekend to visit his Uncle Mike and Grandpa. His Grandpa flew up from Louisiana to celebrate his 87th birthday (and he brought the fixings for gumbo!!). We are lucky enough to only live a few hours away. So, I took a day off of work and we headed down. Man did we have a blast!
We headed out Friday morning taking a brief stop in New Jersey at a scenic over look to stretch our legs. We got into Long Island around noonish. Andrew went with his Uncle Mike to pick up his Grandpa from the airport while I relaxed from the long drive. That evening we went to this amazing little sushi restaurant for dinner where we all ate until we were ready to explode.

Saturday Grandpa made gumbo for lunch so we all had a huge lunch. Then Uncle Mike dropped Andrew and I off at the train station so that we could catch a train to Penn station. Andrew and I walked around and saw Herold Square and Macy's (the most important places in my opinion lol). Then we went to the Empire State building. It took us almost 2 hours to get to the observatory, but it was definitely worth the view. When we finally got back to the street we realized that we were going to miss our train back to Long Island. Luckily we were able to book it back to Penn Station with literally enough time to sprint through the doors of the train. We got back to Long Island a little late because the train was delayed. Then we went to a Portuguese restaurant for dinner. Again with the amazing food!!!

Sunday we went to the Oktoberfest in plattdeutsche park on Long Island. They have a shooting range in the park so I got to fire a 22 rifle for the first time and Andrew and Grandpa also took some shots. Then the day had to come to a close and we headed back to Syracuse.
